Zhuhai, December 12 (Reporter Cheng Jingwei) Guided by the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau and hosted by the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources, the 11th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Nature Conservation Symposium was recently held in Zhuhai.

The Qiao-Dangan Island Provincial Nature Reserve in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province covers three natural ecosystems: forest, ocean and wetland, and the main objects of protection are mangrove wetlands, macaques, birds and other rare animals and plants, as well as the island ecological environment. Shenzhen Mangrove Wetland Conservation Foundation is committed to protecting wetlands and biodiversity, practicing the nature conservation model of social participation, and has brand projects such as "Protecting Shenzhen Bay", "Rescuing Spoon-billed Sandpipers" and "Rebuilding Maritime Forests".

The memorandum of cooperation clearly states that the two parties will integrate resources around mangrove wetland restoration, community development, science popularization and education, blue carbon economy, eco-tourism, etc., give full play to their respective advantages, explore the planning and restoration of wetland parks, and jointly protect flagship species such as black-faced spoonbills in mangrove wetlands. Relying on the "Blue Carbon Town" project on Qi'ao Island to build carbon neutrality and "NbS" (nature-based solutions) pilots, that is, to make positive contributions to climate change mitigation and adaptation through the protection, sustainable management and restoration of ecosystems, and at the same time help rural revitalization; Jointly promote the construction of a leading nature education and research base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

At the symposium, representatives and experts from relevant government departments, nature conservation management institutions, and scientific research institutes carried out thematic report sharing and roundtable discussions around the theme of "Green and Beautiful Guangdong, High-quality Promotion of Nature Conservation in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao".
