With the slow rotation of the cutterhead of the shield machine, the first super-large diameter shield machine "Keihin Tongxin" of Keihin Intercity was successfully launched and began to excavate in the direction of Tianjin Binhai Airport.
It is understood that the "Keihin Tongxin" is the first shield machine launched on the whole line of Keihin Intercity, and it is also the largest diameter railway shield machine in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. With a total length of 135 meters, a total weight of about 2800,13 tons and an excavation diameter of 8.1 meters, the shield machine was used for the construction of tunnel No. 2 under the Keihin Intercity through the area of Tianjin Binhai International Airport. After the shield machine starts, it will successively pass through the key points such as Beijing-Tianjin-Tang Expressway, Jinhan Highway, Beitang Sewage River, and Li Mingzhuang Depot of Metro Line 2923, and enter the Jingbin Intercity Tianjin Binhai International Airport Station, which is 29 meters long and has a maximum buried depth of 82.<> meters, which has the characteristics of "large diameter, clay soil and high risk".

The first phase of the project will be completed and opened to traffic in 2022, and the second phase of the project will start construction in November 2022, starting from Beichen Station, passing through Dongli and Binhai New Area, and connecting to Binhai West Station of Tianjin-Qin High-speed Railway and Binhai Station of Jin-Wei High-speed Railway.
