Chinanews.com, Guangzhou, December 12 (Reporter Wang Jian) The Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project, a major national water conservancy project and an important livelihood project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, announced on the 8th that the only new storage reservoir of the project, Gaoxinsha Reservoir, passed the acceptance of water storage at the lower gate on the 8th, and started the water storage work in an all-round way, taking a solid step towards the realization of the project.

Gaoxinsha Reservoir is located in the north triangle area of Gaoxinsha Island in Nansha, Guangzhou, within the Nansha section of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project, the overall appearance is triangular, and it is the only newly built flat prototype storage reservoir in the whole line of the project, with a total storage capacity of 482.<> million cubic meters, which is currently the largest reservoir in Nansha, and plays the role of "regulator" and "transfer station" in the process of long-distance and large-flow water transmission in the whole line, and can provide direct water supply and emergency water supply guarantee for Nansha, Guangzhou.

According to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Water Resources, the acceptance was organized by the department. The members of the acceptance committee and experts listened to the work reports of all parties involved in the construction, and after carefully inspecting the site of the Gaoxinsha Reservoir and carefully consulting the engineering data, they believed that the construction of the Gaoxinsha Reservoir had met the conditions for the storage of water in the lower gate, and unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance of the water storage in the lower gate.

It is understood that after the acceptance, the Xijiang water can be transferred and stored through the Gaoxinsha Reservoir, and gradually flow into Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and other places before the end of the year, taking a landmark step towards realizing the full line of water.

It is reported that the Pearl River Delta water resources allocation project is 113.2 kilometers long, with a design flow of 80 cubic meters per second and an annual water supply of 17.08 billion cubic meters. After its completion, it will divert water from the Xijiang River system to the eastern part of the Pearl River Delta, solve the problem of water shortage in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan, improve the degree of water supply guarantee, provide emergency backup water sources for Hong Kong and other places, and gradually return the ecological water in the Dongjiang River basin, so as to fully guarantee the water supply security of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
