His eternal companion José Luis Armenteros died in 2016. Together they created classic songs from the repertoire and memory of Spain from the 60s, 70s and 80s. In addition to those mentioned, Herrero and Armenteros were authors of América, América de Nino Bravo, de Shalom, Atrévete, Amar es algo más, Me vas a echar de menos or Adivina de donde soy" by José Luis Rodríguez "El Puma" and the main repertoire of Formula V, with classics such as Tengo tu amor, Cinderella and Eva María.

Pablo Herrero also composed, together with Armenteros, the great anthem of the Transition, Libertad sin ira, which was performed by Jarcha and which was used as a publicity vehicle to promote the publication of the newspaper Diario 16, in October 1976, and which was initially censored.

Armenteros and Herrero were the backbone of the pioneering instrumental rock group Los Relámpagos, formed in Madrid in 1961. His style was characterized by interpreting old Spanish melodies and classical compositions by Albéniz, Turina or Granados with modern instruments and rhythms. After the group's dissolution in 1968, Herrero and Armenteros established themselves as a prolific creative duo in the pay of successful singers.
