Last week, in response to a series of accidents in which tires came off large trucks traveling in Aomori and Shimane prefectures, killing one person on the side of the road and injuring two others, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism issued an emergency instruction on the 1th to transport companies nationwide to inspect the nuts that secure the tires for looseness.

On December 12, on the Hachinohe Expressway in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, two tires on the left side of the rear wheel came off from a moving large truck and collided with a 1-year-old male office worker who was working on the side of the road, and the man was later killed, and another man who was doing the same work was also slightly injured.

On November 2, a tire of a large truck traveling on a national highway in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, came off and collided with a man who was walking on the side of the road, injuring the man.

According to officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, in both accidents, the company has reported that it was not long after replacing the tires with winter tires in-house.

The accident in Aomori was about two weeks ago, and
the accident in Shimane was replaced the day before.

For this reason, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on the 32th, through nine transportation bureaus nationwide and the Okinawa General Secretariat, asked transport companies to
check if the nuts that secure the tires were loose, and
▽ "Increased tightening" after replacing the tires and driving a certain distance We issued an urgent order to check all at once to make sure that it was being carried out reliably.

There were 11 accidents in which the tires of large vehicles came off last year, and 30% of the accidents occurred within one month after replacing the tires, and

2% occurred within two months.
We are calling for proper implementation of replacement work and subsequent maintenance.
