The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has compiled a policy for revising the Child Care and Family Care Leave Act, including requiring companies to establish two or more systems from the age of 3 until the child enters elementary school, such as shortened working hours.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has been discussing measures to support the work-life balance of people working while raising and caring for family members, and announced a policy on the evening of the 4th.

In terms of childcare support, we will require companies to make efforts to allow children to telework until they reach the age of three, and to establish two or more of several systems, such as shortened working hours, flextime, and childcare facilities, from the age of three to the child entering elementary school.

In terms of nursing care support, we are obliging companies to inform all employees of support systems such as nursing care leave when they reach the age of 3, when they begin to pay long-term care insurance premiums, and to individually inform employees who have requested that they need to care for a family member to confirm their intention so that they can select the necessary system.

In addition, as a way to support the working work of parents of children with disabilities and children in medical care, it is also obligatory for companies to listen to their individual needs, such as extending the number of vacation days for hospital visits, and to give consideration to the extent possible.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) is proceeding with a specific system design based on the opinions of the council members, and will include it in the draft revision of the Child Care and Family Care Leave Act, which it aims to submit to the Diet next year.
