In the first health survey conducted by an organization made up of anime creators, it was found that 17% of people involved in anime production have or may have developed a mental illness such as depression.

Japan anime is popular both in Japan and abroad, but according to the Japan Animators and Directors Association, which is made up of anime producers, some producers get sick due to overcrowded work schedules.

In response to this, last year, the association added a health-related item to the survey to clarify the actual situation of the industry, and conducted a questionnaire survey of people involved in the production of animation, and received responses from 429 people.

According to this, 17 people, or 73%, have developed or may have developed a mental illness such as depression.

In addition, when asked about fatigue, 68 people, or 291%, felt mental fatigue, and 66 people, or 285%, felt physical fatigue.

The Japan Animators and Directors Association says, "Based on the results of this survey, we would like to work to improve the working environment in the industry."
