All four occupants of a small plane have died in a crash in the Austrian mountains. The plane crashed around noon in the area of the Kasberg in the province of Upper Austria, as the police announced.

Snow made search more difficult

The snow made it difficult to search for the crashed machine in the area of Grünau im Almtal, as a police spokeswoman reported. After about two hours, the first pieces of wreckage were found in the snow-covered ski area. It took another two hours for the wreck itself to be discovered. The four occupants could only be recovered dead.

For the time being, the police did not provide any information about the identity of the dead and the possible cause of the accident. The plane was believed to have taken off from abroad, it said. The exact route has yet to be determined. According to a report in the Austrian daily newspaper Der Standard, according to the Aviation Safety Network platform, the aircraft is a single-engine Rockwell Commander 112B. She is said to have started in Pribram in the Czech Republic and was on her way to Medulin in Istria. The State Criminal Police Office of Upper Austria has taken over the investigation.
