After more than 45 years of existence, the Thorgal comic book is still a dream and a recipe. With his shoulder-length hair, his three-day beard and his scar on his right cheek, the mythical hero of the Viking Thorgal returns to the shelves this Thursday with a 41st volume: "A Thousand Eyes".

The Thorgal comic book series has sold more than 16 million copies. While the Largo Winch saga is in volume 24, the XIII series in volume 28, it is volume 41 of Thorgal that has just been released. What these three comics have in common is that they all have the same father, in the person of the great Belgian screenwriter Jean Van Hamme.

"I became the father-in-law of these characters that I created. I have what is called, and I necessarily keep what is called, a moral right," he recently told Europe 1. Jean Van Hamme will be 85 next January, while Thorgal's first cartoonist, the Polish Grzegorz Rosinski, is 82.

Long live Thorgal

Thorgal was born in issue 106 of Tintin's diary, on September 20, 1977. An orphan character taken in by a Viking family in the Middle Ages, but who is said to come from another planet. Yes, it's a bit like Superman, minus the superpowers and tights. Today sees the release of the album Mille yeux by Le Lombard, by Fred Vignaux on the drawing and Yann on the script.

An effective album with a great show. So yes, long live Thorgal and his original creators!
