The post-95 guy in Hangzhou resigned from the publishing house to help his parents set up a stall to sell vegetables together

The life is lived by oneself, and the current life is very reassuring

From the employees of the publishing house to the vegetable market stalls, Lin Long, a young man born in the 95s, felt that he had found the "stability" he wanted.

"The greens, Chinese cabbage, radish, lettuce and chrysanthemum are all homegrown. The corn grown by my family is especially popular, and at most it can be sold for six or seven hundred catties a day. Yesterday, in front of the stall of the Dongmen vegetable market in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, Lin Long introduced the vegetables on the stall to reporters.

More than four years ago, Lin Long was an employee of a publishing house in Yuhang District. The 4-to-44 life, going to different schools to deliver sample books, having dinner with colleagues three or four times a week, exercising and playing ball after work... are all part of Lin Long's former life. And now, in addition to his parents, there are also 10 acres of vegetable land at home and a vegetable stall of less than <> square meters in front of him.

"I don't regret that my life is for myself, not for others to see. My current life makes me feel at ease. Speaking of his past life, Lin Long did not stop what he was doing.

Shuttle between buildings in the city

There was often a sense of wandering in my heart

Wearing a black windproof jacket, a round face, some dark skin, burying his head in silently peeling corn husks... Compared with the vegetable vendors he usually saw in the vegetable market, Lin Long seemed quiet and introverted.

"You taste it! You'll know when you eat it. Talking about his own corn, Lin Longjian began to talk, and he cut a small piece with a knife and handed it to the reporter.

"Well, it's kind of sweet!" Hearing the reporter's praise, Lin Long had a satisfied smile on his face.

In order to ensure the freshness of the vegetables, Lin Long's parents have to go down to the field to cut vegetables at 1 o'clock in the morning every day.

Lin Long gets up at 3 a.m. every day and rides a tricycle to transport the first truckload of vegetables his parents have just picked from the field to the vegetable market.

Lin Long started to go out of the stall at 4 o'clock in the morning, and he and his parents were busy until about 7:4 in the evening to close the stall and go home... Lin Long has lived this kind of life for <> years.

After graduating from junior college, Lin Long has successively worked in car beauty, maintenance, insurance, publishing and other industries. But shuttling between the buildings in the big city, Lin Long often has a sense of "unstable" wandering in his heart.

In May 2019, Lin Long married his wife, who was also in a publishing house, and the financial pressure of renting a house and daily expenses made him start to seriously think about the life he wanted.

Selling vegetables does not "lose face"

It is still the most practical to work on the ground

Young people's impulses are often only between this thought.

A few months later, Lin Long gave up his job at the publishing house and returned to his parents to help them run the vegetable stall they had been running for more than 20 years.

Initially, Lin Long's parents did not agree with this "faceless" matter. They can't understand why young people who can run for a glamorous life have to step into the land full of hardship and mud like themselves.

"In the beginning, many people would come to us behind his back, saying that he was so young that he came to sell vegetables and had no income. It was also very uncomfortable for us to listen to it. Lin Long's mother, Chen Guiqin, said.

Lin Long didn't care about the discussions around him.

"I'm a little tired, but I'm happy to be happy with different faces every day, and everyone is satisfied. Moreover, no one cares about selling vegetables, and the work is quite free, and you don't have to be scolded by the boss for doing good or bad work. Lin Long said.

From the rush of not getting out of bed and placing vegetables on the stall at the beginning, to the current familiarity, under another kind of busyness, the confusion about the living state is fading away in Lin Long's heart.

"Young people always want to start their own business, be their own boss, open their own shop and factory... But when the ability does not allow, it is most practical to work down-to-earth. Lin Long said that there is nothing to be ashamed of earning money with his own hands.

Pull customers to sell vegetables online

There are more customers from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places

In recent years, with the increasing number of community shops selling vegetables, Lin Long's vegetable stall business has also been greatly affected.

After nearly half a year of continuous rotation of stalls and stalls, Lin Long came up with a new idea.

From the beginning of taking over the vegetable stall, Lin Long consciously began to add the customer's WeChat, hoping to open up a way of online sales.

In 2021, Lin Long pulled a group called "Dongmen Vegetable Market ~ No. 7 Corn Family". Lin Long will take some small videos every day and post them in the group, "so that they know that this is what we grow home, and they can eat it with confidence." ”

In just two years, the number of people in the group has grown from 80 to more than 250.

Lin Long's most rewarding moment of the day is to see customers praising "delicious" in the group.

Lin Long's mother, Chen Guiqin, told reporters that her son's method of selling vegetables online is indeed effective. In the past, when the family took it to the vegetable market to collect the corn, there would be more than half a bag left. Today, four or five bags are sold in a day.

"In addition to local customers in Hangzhou, there are also many customers from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian and other places, who often order corn online." Lin Long said.

Experience the hard work of parents

"Life is not enough just by imagination"

After a few years of vegetable market business, Lin Long also really realized the hard work and difficulty of his parents' work.

"The young man is very diligent, and it is not easy for him to be so young." Zhang Li and Chen Guiqin, who set up a stall next to Lin Long's vegetable stall, are close in age, and they are full of praise when they talk about Lin Long.

Zhang Li said that her two daughters often came to the vegetable farm to help before they got married, but now they only occasionally come to help, "The work in the vegetable market is too hard!" ”

Lin Long's WeChat profile picture is still a photo from several years ago, in which he has a white face, fashionable clothes, and a thinner face. "Nowadays, as long as you wear warm clothes." Lin Long said.

Now Lin Long is a father of two children, and the eldest son is in kindergarten.

Compared with the "white-collar" life in the past, Lin Long now does earn more money, but there is new pressure.

"It costs money to contract land for planting vegetables, it costs money to apply fertilizer and medicine, it costs money for two children, and there is a mortgage to pay off every month," Lin Long said, and in July this year, he sent his two children to his mother-in-law's house in Wenzhou, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Let's take it one step at a time, no one can come up with a plan right away. It still depends on the timing, not just imagination. Talking about his future plans, Lin Long's words revealed a maturity that was rare beyond his age.

Reporter's Notes

land and ordinary fireworks

It may cure mental internal friction

On the way back from the interview, the reporter talked about Lin Long with the online car-hailing driver.

The driver is also a "post-90s". Before opening the ride-hailing service, he worked within the system for ten years.

"Why are many young people willing to return to their hometowns and the land now, and choose to work and live such as farming and selling vegetables?" The reporter asked the driver.

The driver said his understanding: land and ordinary fireworks can probably cure workplace anxiety and mental exhaustion.

Yes, in this volatile real life, peace of mind may be one of the most scarce things.
