A historical film from the famous streaming platform, Netflix, about the Carthaginian general, Hannibal Barca, is set to see the light of day in the coming months. Denzel Washington is expected to play the lead role. Netflix will have a lot of expectations around this film since it has also hired John Logan for the screenplay.

Denzel Washington has already found his next movie while filming Gladiator II with Ridley Scott. The 68-year-old actor is set to star in the upcoming film about the Carthaginian general, Hannibal Barca, who tried to conquer Rome on the back of an elephant. The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, with whom Denzel previously collaborated on Training Day and the Equalizer saga. In fact, in 2002, he won the Oscar for Best Actor for Training Day.

Netflix will have a lot of expectations around this film since it has also hired John Logan for the screenplay. The latter has collaborated with Martin Scorsese on Gladiator, The Aviator and Hugo Cabret. The life of Hannibal Barca has been very little represented in cinema. Only the BBC had made a TV movie in 2006: Hannibal: The Nightmare of Rome.

Actor Alexander Siddig played the role of the lead actor. Denzel Washington will also produce the big-budget project. Filming for this film is not expected to begin for several months, as the American actor is still in the middle of filming the film Gladiator II and Antoine Fuqua is preparing a biographical film about Michael Jackson.
