"Research on the Extraterritorial Communication of Laozi Thought" was completed by the team of Professor Wu Zhiyong of the School of Communication of East China Normal University after three years, this book deeply discusses the historical status quo, media dynamics, influence and enlightenment of the extraterritorial communication of Laozi Thought, which is the result of the intersection of communication, history, cultural studies and other disciplines, and is the innovation and expansion of Laozi research.

The book emphasizes that Laozi Thought is the core, essence and model of traditional Chinese culture, and is the outstanding contribution of Chinese civilization to human civilization. The wide dissemination of Lao Tzu's thought and the exchange and mutual learning of foreign civilizations can provide valuable ideological resources for the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, and the balance of the spiritual world of modern people.

Wu Zhiyong said that on the basis of basically grasping the core content of Laozi Thought, this book has carried out systematic and comprehensive data collection, collation, and analysis, summarized the history and current situation of its extraterritorial dissemination, and explored the experience and laws of Laozi's extraterritorial dissemination.

"In some ways, the team members have ventured into areas that have not been covered by scholars in the past; In the process of research, with the help of many outstanding international and domestic experts, it also shows the thinking of important international sinologists on the significance and practical value of Laozi's thought in the world. Wu Zhiyong said that the team will build on the existing research and cooperate with scholars in the fields of philosophy, history, communication, art and Internet technology to promote the universal dissemination and modern application of Laozi thought.

Professor Gong Huanan, dean of the Wisdom Research Institute of East China Normal University and chief expert of the Laozi project research of East China Normal University, said that due to the impact of the epidemic, the research on the extraterritorial acceptance and recognition of Laozi's thought in the project was once blocked.

Professor Xiong Yuezhi, former vice president of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and vice president of the Chinese Historical Society, commented that the project has attracted the participation of many international scholars, and the "Research on the Extraterritorial Spread of Laozi Thought" is of great value for understanding the widespread and lasting spread and influence of Laozi Thought as a representative of traditional Chinese culture around the world. Li Tonglu, an associate professor at Iowa State University in the United States, also believes that the research results of Wu Zhiyong's team have laid a solid foundation for future related research. He talked about his social observation in the West, that is, the West's practice in many aspects is actually contrary to Lao Tzu's thought, which also reflects some problems that the West needs to reflect on.

Professor Wu Zhiyong's team has long been committed to the research on the extraterritorial dissemination of traditional Chinese culture and the exchange and mutual learning of world civilizations, and "Research on the Extraterritorial Dissemination and Reception of Laozi Thought" is the result of the "Research on the Extraterritorial Dissemination and Reception of Laozi Thought", a pilot research fund project of the "Flower of Happiness" of East China Normal University.
