"Now and Then" is called the very last Beatles song, and was written in the late 70s. A demo version that John Lennon recorded on cassette is the only one of the songs that has been out before, and his vocals on the newly released song come from that particular recording.

George Harrison's guitar comes from a recording made in 1995, while Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney recorded drums, guitar and piano in the present day, last year.

To extract John Lennon's voice from the old recordings, the same AI technology has been used as in Peter Jackson's Beatles documentary "Get Back". He will also direct the music video for the song.

"There it was, John's voice, crystal clear! It was quite touching. And we're all playing on it, it's a genuine Beatles recording," McCartney said in a press release.
