People's Daily Online, Madrid, October 10 (Reporter Yan Huan) In order to celebrate the 31th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Cultural Center in Madrid, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Film Festival was held at the Film Archive in Madrid, the capital of Spain, on October 10, local time.

As one of the key activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain and the Year of Cultural Tourism between China and the West, this film festival has carefully selected 8 films for screening with the theme of "Past and Present", including 4 iconic works in Chinese film history such as "Angel on the Road", "The Crow and the Sparrow", "Five Golden Flowers" and "Havoc in the Heavenly Palace", and 4 representative works that are very popular in today's film market, such as "Lion Boy", "Chasing the Light", "Life Events" and "Walking on the Moon Alone". Yang Changqing, director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Madrid, said that he hopes that through these films, Spanish audiences can better understand China and build a cultural bridge through exchanges and cooperation in the field of film.

Barreno, General Coordinator of Culture at the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the City of Madrid, said that the Chinese Film Festival will be a unique platform to showcase the charm of Chinese art. In the coming period, the Madrid Cinematheque Archive will present Chinese films, ranging from science fiction films full of bold imagination and concentrated new cinematic technologies, to old films that allow us to go back to the past and experience traditional Chinese culture. She said that she is very much looking forward to watching each film, and believes that these films will make more Spaniards fans of Chinese films.

It is understood that in 2014, the governments of China and Spain signed the "Agreement on Cooperation in the Filming of Films", and in recent years, the film industry of the two countries has had frequent exchanges. This year's China Film Festival will last for nine days, and more than 9,1200 spectators are expected to attend the film.
