After a sometimes violent operation against activists of the group Last Generation at the Federal Chancellery, the Berlin police are examining possible disciplinary measures against an officer. This was said by a spokeswoman for the police on Wednesday. A specialist commissioner's office at the State Office of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case.

On Tuesday, activists from the group, which advocates for more climate protection, had smeared facades of the Chancellery with orange paint and written slogans on them. Uniformed police officers and men in plain clothes, apparently also police officers, sometimes used physical violence against the activists.

A video shared by the group Last Generation shows a man dressed in civilian clothes cracking down on two people, knocking them to the ground. Also seen in the video is this man smearing paint in the face of one of the people with a brush. According to initial findings, it was a Berlin police officer, said the police spokeswoman.
