• Telecinco's "Journey Through the Desert" Continues: It Marks the Worst Start to the Season Despite the Avalanche of Premieres

The challenge is enormous, but Mediaset has found two brave people willing to take it on. Jesús Calleja, accustomed to adventure, will welcome the New Year again as he did in 2018 with Lara Álvarez under the slogan The Grapes of Illusion. If then Calleja rang the bells in the Plaça Nova de Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, in Mallorca, as a tribute to a town that suffered a terrible flood that year, this year Mediaset has chosen Seville as the setting.

As Bluper has advanced and EL MUNDO has been able to confirm, the host of Planeta Calleja and Volando Voy will eat the grapes this year with one of the faces of the new season of Telecinco, in charge of assuming that "journey through the desert" that is bringing about the change in the culture of the network, in addition to resuming the veteran GH Vip brand, which disappeared after the controversy that arose over the sexual assault of Carlota Prado.

Thus, the last minutes of 2023 will be starred on Cuatro and Telecinco simultaneously by Jesús Calleja and Marta Flich. The challenge for the new pair of presenters is enormous, after last year Risto Mejide and Mariló Montero set an all-time low on Telecinco, with 372,000 fewer viewers, below the million average, and a loss of 1.2 points in its share of the screen after remaining at 4.7%, which meant the loss of third position due to the surprise of TV3.

Marta Flich and Jesús Calleja join Christian Gálvez and Verónica Dulanto as the faces of Christmas on Telecinco, as the latter two will be at the helm of the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve galas.

Last year's Campanadas came with controversy after Risto Mejide's scathing allusions to his competitors, Ana Obregón and Cristina Pedroche. "Is there anything to announce? A pregnancy? The death of a loved one? Because that always gives an audience," Risto asked his partner, much to the annoyance of those alluded to. Ana Obregón responded directly through her social networks: "Not everything goes, Risto Mejide. In this life, not everything goes."

Lara Álvarez and Jesús Calleja also failed to achieve third place in 2018, losing 2.7 points compared to the previous year and remaining at a 5.3% share of the screen with their Solidarity Chimes. However, the average number of spectators was much higher: 920,000 spectators.
