Amid the problem of high-priced resale of theater tickets, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that it has concluded an agreement with theater-related organizations and will work together to prevent unauthorized resale.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has signed an agreement with the Japan Theater Entertainment Association and theater companies Shochiku, Toho, and Meijiza.

At the signing ceremony held on the 24th, Yuko Sano, Director of the Life Safety Department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, gave a speech saying, "The number of high-priced resale of tickets online is increasing, and it is becoming more sophisticated and latent, and we would like to work closely together to develop these initiatives."

In response, Tadashi Abiko, president of the Japan Theater Entertainment Association, said, "The conclusion of this agreement is epoch-making, and we have been working to eradicate illegal resale, but together we would like to present the correct way of distribution."

Under the agreement, in addition to sharing information and raising awareness about the unauthorized resale of tickets, the consultation desk of the Metropolitan Police Department and industry groups will be unified, leading to the rapid aggregation of information.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, five cases were arrested for illegally reselling tickets for kabuki and musicals, and they hope to make use of this agreement to quickly crack down and prevent unauthorized resale.
