US pop singer Britney Spears says she became pregnant during her previous relationship with musician Justin Timberlake and had an abortion. This is reported by the magazine »People « with reference to the memoirs of the 41-year-old, which will go on sale next week.

"It was a surprise to me, but not a tragedy," Spears wrote of the pregnancy. From the end of the nineties until 2002, she was in a relationship with the singer of the boy band *NSYNC. "I loved Justin so much. I had always assumed that we would have a family together. It would only have happened much sooner than we had anticipated."

Timberlake didn't want a child, Spears writes in the book "The Woman in Me: My Story," according to People. Justin clearly wasn't happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready for a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

She then had an abortion, Spears writes. If it had been her decision alone, she would never have done it. "But Justin was so sure he didn't want to be a father." The abortion was "one of the most agonizing" experiences of her life. Timberlake has not yet commented on Spears' narrative.

Britney also settles accounts with her father

The singer's memoir of hits such as "Baby One More Time", "Oops! ... I Did It Again « and »Toxic« will be released next Tuesday. People magazine has now published the first excerpts exclusively in advance.

According to the report, Spears also settles accounts with her father, who had a controversial guardianship over her for 13 years. "Guardianship robbed me of my womanhood and made me a child," the singer writes. "I had always felt music in my bones and in my blood; They stole it from me."

For 13 years, she felt "like a shadow of her former self," the artist writes. I think back to how long my father and his business partners had control over my body and my money, and I feel sick." She adds, "I don't deserve what my family did to me."

From teenager to superstar

Spears had become a superstar as a teenager in 1998 with »Baby One More Time«. Years of success, however, were followed by numerous negative headlines. In 2008, Spears was temporarily confined to a clinic due to mental health problems and incapacitated. Her father, Jamie, took over the guardianship of the musician. In doing so, he controlled his daughter's personal and artistic interests as well as her assets.

It was not until the end of 2021 that the highly controversial guardianship ended after a long legal battle. In a statement to the court, Britney Spears had complained that she was "traumatized" and "depressed": "I just want my life back." The mother-of-two's accusation that her father prevented her from having an implanted contraceptive removed, even though she wanted more offspring, caused a particular stir.

After the conservatorship ended, Spears married her fiancé Sam Asghari and released a song featuring pop legend Elton John. However, the marriage to Asghari broke up in the summer. In August, the 29-year-old filed for divorce.

For Spears, it was already the third failed marriage. The singer had married Jason Alexander in 2004, whom she knew from childhood. However, the marriage lasted only 55 hours before it was annulled. The singer was then married to dancer and rapper Kevin Federline, with whom she has two children.
