"Evil Does Not Exist" was named Best Film of the festival, directed by Japanese Oscar winner Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

Earlier this autumn, Mika Gustafson was awarded the directing prize in a side section at the Venice Film Festival for his feature film debut. The film is about three young sisters who lead a boundless existence without parents until the social services begin to suspect something is wrong and want to make a home visit.

"It is a great honour to receive the Sutherland Trophy for Best Debut Film at the London Film Festival. A prize that has previously gone to such greats as Julia Decournau and Andrea Arnold. It gives me a lot of energy and courage to continue working and take on my next project," says Mika Gustafson after the award ceremony.

"Paradise is Burning" premieres in Swedish cinemas on October 27.
