A preview was held for related parties before the special exhibition of "Yamato-e" featuring Japan-specific landscapes and people began at the Tokyo National Museum on the 11th.

"Yamato-e" was created from the early Heian period to the end of the Edo period, based on landscapes and people unique to the four seasons of the Japan.

The special exhibition, which begins at the Tokyo National Museum on the 11th, will feature a total of about 240 Yamato-e paintings from the Muromachi period.

During the period, the works will be introduced while changing the contents of the exhibition, and from the 11th to the 22nd of this month, the famous "Four Great Picture Scrolls" such as "The Tale of Genji Picture Scroll", "Bird and Beast Caricatures", "Shigiyama Enki Picture Scroll", and "Bandai Nagon Picture Scroll" will be exhibited.

This is the first time in 4 years that these four works have been exhibited at one venue.

In addition, the "Hamamatsu Folding Screen" that can be appreciated throughout the period is drawn in the order of spring, summer, autumn, and winter from the right to the left of the work, and the difference in seasons is expressed by the appearance of small birds flying around and the flowers and plants.

Mr. Takahiro Tsuchiya, Director of the Painting and Sculpture Department of the Tokyo National Museum, said, "There are many works that depict various natural figures and are very gentle, so I hope you will come to the venue."

The special exhibition "Yamato-e: The Beauty of the Dynasty Passed Down through the Generations" will be held at the Tokyo National Museum from 11 to 12 December.
