Ahead of Railway Day on the 14th of this month, the "Railway Festival" was held in Odaiba, Tokyo, where railway companies from all over the country gather to promote and sell goods.

The event is held every year by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and an executive committee formed by railway companies to coincide with "Railway Day," which was established to commemorate October 5, Meiji 10, the first railway in Japan, and this year marks the 14th time.

About 70 companies, including JR companies and private railways nationwide, participated in the event, and each booth promoted the company and sold limited goods and railway parts.

Since 2019, the event has been canceled for three consecutive years due to typhoons and the influence of the new corona, and last year the sale of goods where a large number of people gather was canceled due to infection control.

It was the first time in a long time that railway companies from all over the country had the opportunity to gather in one place, and from the morning, many railway fans, parents and children lined up at each company's booth to buy items and take commemorative photos with the current drivers.

In addition, at the booth of the independent administrative agency involved in the construction of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, a model of the line between Kanazawa ~ Tsuruga, which will open in March next year, was on display, and visitors took their time to look at it.

A fifth-grade boy said, "I was happy to be able to take a picture with the Shinkansen driver."
