The departure ceremony of the Guangxi medical team of the Guangxi Medical Team to Eliminate Cataract Blindness in Cambodia was held in Nanning on the same day, and the medical team will depart on September 9 to "send light" to local cataract patients in Po Luo Vang Province, Cambodia.

Lin Wei, deputy director of the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said at the ceremony that the cataract blindness elimination project is an innovative measure for Guangxi to serve the "Belt and Road" initiative and enhance people-to-people bonds. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the 60th anniversary of the dispatch of China's foreign aid medical teams, and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia.

Since May 2018, Guangxi has sent 5 batches of 15 medical teams to Kampong Cham and Po Lo Vang provinces in Cambodia, including 98 people in 12 batches and 74 people in 3 batches in Kampong Cham province, and 24,7835 cases of free vision restoration surgery for local cataract patients, which has been widely praised by all walks of life in Cambodia.

A total of 8 members of the fourth batch of Guangxi medical team from the Guangxi Medical Team of the Cataract Blindness Eradication Project in Po Luo Ven Province, Cambodia, will carry out medical assistance work in Bo Vang Province of Cambodia for about 45 days. (End)
