On the 18th, Respect for the Aged Day, an event was held at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden in Nagoya City to celebrate the oldest rhinoceros in Japan.

Every year, the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden in Chikusa Ward, Nagoya City, holds an event to celebrate the longevity of the animals they keep in captivity on Respect for the Aged Day.

This year, we celebrated his longevity by giving his favorite apple to the 1990-year-old female Indian rhino "Nilgiri" born in Switzerland in October 10.

According to the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden, "Nilgiri" is in its 32s in human terms, making it the oldest Indian rhinoceros bred in Japan.

On the 70th, citizens over the age of 18 were able to enter the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden for free, and there were many families visiting the park with their grandparents.

A fourth-grade elementary school boy living in Nagoya City said, "I thought it was amazing that he lived as long as his grandfather."

A woman in her 65s in the city said, "It's fun to come and play with my grandson, it's hot, but I have to work hard like a rhinoceros."
