Regarding Unit 2 of the Tsuruga Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui Prefecture, which has been subject to an unusual suspension of examination due to a series of deficiencies in materials, the Nuclear Regulation Authority has decided to resume the examination because there were no obvious deficiencies in the application submitted again by the operator's Japan Nuclear Power Plant.

Regarding Unit 2 of the Tsuruga Nuclear Power Plant, it has been pointed out that the fault running directly under the reactor "may move in the future," and if the point cannot be overturned, there is a possibility that the reactor will be decommissioned, and Japan Nuclear Power Co. has argued that there is "no possibility of movement" during the examination.

However, the examination was suspended for about two years due to a series of rewriting and errors in the fault data and other materials submitted by Japan Nuclear Power Company, and even after the resumption in December last year, errors continued one after another, so in April this year, the Nuclear Regulation Authority suspended the examination again and requested that the contents of the application be corrected.

At the meeting of the NRA on August 6, discussions were held on the handling of the application submitted by Japan Nuclear Power Company on August 8, and the Nuclear Regulation Authority of the Secretariat, reported that there were no obvious deficiencies in the form.

In response, the NRA decided to resume the suspended review.

After the resumption, the activity of the fault running directly under the reactor will be in focus again, but while Japan Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. has expanded the data that denies the activity using a new method, the NRA is considering terminating the review itself if any deficiencies in the materials are found again during the detailed investigation in the future, and the future of the discussion will be closely watched.
