Li Dun, the main producer of the musical, said that this concert depicts the guardians guarding the murals of the Mogao Grottoes with their thin bodies, and the passers-by go through turbulence, witness frequent world wars, rampant diseases, and finally return to the soul-haunted Dunhuang story, carrying the rich history and civilization of Dunhuang, expressing Chinese's deep yearning for the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland.

Li Hecheng, a professor at Northwest Normal University and an expert in Dunhuang studies, believes that the play combines the main contents of Dunhuang murals such as "Over the City at Night" and "Riding an Elephant into the Womb", strung together characters such as Feitian, Gandaba and Chennaluo, and skillfully combines the guardians and passers-by of the Mogao Grottoes, giving people a shock to the soul and making people feel the beauty of culture.

"My first time in Gansu, this drama made me intuitively feel the thick history and culture of Dunhuang, and I liked it very much." Logan Matthew Allen, manager of the Selwyn District Library in New Zealand, said.

Playing the flute, playing the drum, playing the lute, plucking the hoop, holding the flower plate, holding the incense burner, draping the splendid embroidery... When the actors sang high-pitched and enthusiastic lyrics, or sang Dunhuang elements in a low and gentle voice, the audience reacted enthusiastically, casting cheers and applause.

It is reported that the concert is jointly produced by the Propaganda Department of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd., the Central Chinese Orchestra, the Lanzhou Grand Theater, and He Lihuo (Shenzhen) Musical Industry Development Co., Ltd.
