On the second day of the trial of the arson murder case in which the studio of "Kyoto Animation" was set on fire and 36 employees died, the audio of defendant Shinji Aoba (2) shouting "The novel was packed" was played in the courtroom immediately after the incident.

Shinji Aoba, 45, is accused of murder, arson, and other crimes for dousing gasoline and setting fire to the first studio of Kyoto Animation in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto four years ago, killing 4 employees and seriously injuring 2019 others.

The trial by the judges began at the Kyoto District Court on May 7, and while the defendant admitted the charges against him, his lawyer pleaded not guilty, saying he was not responsible.

On the second day, the 1th, evidence was examined, and defendant Aoba entered the court in a wheelchair, wearing a blue jacket and a mask, and in the courtroom, audio data of the exchange between the defendant and the police officer who was seized near the scene immediately after the incident was played.

In the audio, when the defendant was asked by a police officer why he did it, he shouted "I was stuck" and "Novel," and then said, "You know everything, because you slammed it."

The audio played for about three minutes, and Aoba stared at the monitor in the courtroom.

On the other hand, there were people in tears in the audience.

At the trial, the prosecution argued that it was revenge for a misguided grudge that unilaterally believed that KyoAni had stolen the idea, and the defendant's ability and extent of responsibility are the biggest points of contention.
