Since August, the National Consumer Affairs Center has been calling attention to cases of people being transported by ambulance after ingesting foods and capsules containing THCH, one of the components contained in cannabis, which is regulated as a "designated drug."

"THCH" is one of the chemical substances called "cannabinoid" contained in cannabis, and due to concerns about hallucinogenic effects, effects on memory, and health hazards such as drug dependence, the import, manufacture, sale, possession and use of "designated drugs" has been prohibited in Japan since August 8.

According to the National Consumer Affairs Center, in the year to the end of July, a total of four cases were received from consumer life centers and medical institutions nationwide in which people were transported by ambulance after ingesting foods containing THCH.

Among them, a woman in her 4s who drank a capsule containing the ingredient of "THCH" purchased on a mail order site was taken to an ambulance after feeling numb and severe dizziness in her upper body and face, and remained unconscious for two days, and a woman in her 7s felt sick after eating gummies and "hallucinations" It means that there have been reports of cases of people being transported by ambulance.

According to the National Consumer Affairs Center, before the regulation, products such as gummies and cookies, including "THCH", which claimed to have a relaxing effect, were sold on major mail-order sites, and are still traded at some online flea markets.

The National Consumer Affairs Center warns people to never touch products containing THCH.
