In the second quarter of this year, the average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Beijing was 26 micrograms per cubic meter, unchanged from the same period last year. The average concentration of inhalable particulate matter (PM10) was 57 micrograms per cubic meter, down 1.7% year-on-year. From May to June, the average road dust load in the plain area of the city and the average road dust load within 5 meters of the entrance and exit of the construction site decreased by 6.100% and 4.18% respectively compared with April.
The relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment said that Beijing adheres to the problem-oriented and effect-oriented, and takes strengthening dust control as a key measure in the battle against air pollution.
Beijing construction sites include housing construction, municipal, transportation, water affairs, gardens, overhead lines into the ground and other types. During the construction process, dust will be generated in processes such as earth and rock filling, loading and unloading of building materials, building demolition and construction waste collection.
The person in charge said that Beijing has carried out special dust control actions, studied and established a regular release mechanism for construction dust control work, and compacted the main responsibility of all parties involved in dust control. Organize a comprehensive investigation of relevant construction sites, and take measures such as interviews and contract penalties to deal with prominent problems.
At the same time, strict law enforcement, carry out special law enforcement actions on "dust cleaning" at construction sites, carry out law enforcement on key road sections, points and units, severely crack down on illegal acts such as construction dust, leakage and scattering, and indiscriminate dumping, and investigate and deal with a total of 9120,<> construction dust cases, forming a dust law enforcement supervision system of "strict prevention at the source, strict management of the process, and severe punishment of consequences".
In addition, Beijing has classified and controlled bare land dust, continued to promote the work of "uncovering the net and seeing the green", and adopted methods such as planting or sowing ground cover plants and cultivating native ground cover, etc., to ecologically control 111.78 hectares of bare land under newly afforested land.
