During the filming of the sequel to the cult film »Gladiator« from 2000, several employees were injured in an accident. However, all those affected are in a "stable" condition, the studio Paramount Pictures announced, according to the industry papers "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety".

According to the report, the accident occurred on Wednesday during a stunt scene in Morocco. Six crew members had to be treated medically, four were still in hospital, it said. There is no danger to life. Actors were not injured. The studio did not provide further details about the incident.

»Gladiator 2« is scheduled to be released in cinemas in November 2024. Director Ridley Scott brought the Irish actor Paul Mescal ("Woman in the Dark", "Aftersun") in front of the camera as the lead actor for the sequel. Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and Pedro Pascal also star.

In the original film, Russell Crowe played the ex-general and celebrated gladiator Maximus, who kills his rival, the devious emperor's son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), in a duel and dies himself in the end. The blockbuster won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor.
