The best time of the year to disconnect is approaching. We warm up engines with these traveling proposals.

CAZORLA AND HIS 'BLUES'

Since 1994, during the month of July this town of Jaén becomes the world capital of the blues. The Blame lies with the BluesCazorla Festival, already considered one of the best blues contests in the world. This year it will be on July 6, 7 and 8 and, as always, more than 60% of the festival, distributed among different venues of the town, is free. The event is certainly an excuse to approach the natural park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, the largest protected area in Spain, enjoy its landscapes and the beauty of Cazorla itself, La Iruela or Quesada. SORIA AND TRANSHUMANCE

The Commonwealth of Highlands of Soria invites the traveler to know from June 15 to 17 the office of transhumant shepherd taking advantage of the return of an immense flock of merino sheep. Sleeping in the open accompanied by 1,000 sheep may not have been in their plans, but the experience of trying this lifestyle declared Intangible Cultural Heritage is worth it. Because walking to the rhythm of the cattle serves to appreciate the road with all the senses: the smell of flowers, the sound of cowbells and the bleating of sheep, the surprising landscape of this province ... Keep in mind that transhumance tends to disappear due to lack of professional relief, so there you have another reason to travel to the Highlands of Soria. More info: www.soriavacaciones.es

IRELAND AND 'ULYSSES'

Every June 16, the Irish gather to honor one of their literary heroes: Leopold Bloom, the main character in James Joyce's Ulysses. Bloomsday has been celebrated since 1954 in a thousand and one ways. The streets of Dublin are flooded with straw canotier hats, restaurants serve menus inspired by the work, there are readings, exhibitions and shows in a kind of literary recreation that has already crossed borders. Because you don't stay alone in Dublin. Madrid, for example, joins Bloomsday with a route through the center to which several familiar faces are invited to recall different passages of the novel. CASTELLÓN TO GET LOST IN

The image we have in the head of Peñíscola is that of that rock, fortress included, which rises 64 meters above the blue of the Mediterranean. No wonder the series Game of Thrones chose it as one of its scenarios. Well, it could also serve as a set for a new version of The Shining. Why? Because since this spring the city of Castellón hides the largest outdoor natural labyrinth in Spain. With a route of three kilometers and 7,000 m2, the labyrinth is composed of 4,000 plants of Ligustrum japonicum. The architect is the Peñisverd nursery that has chosen a multicursal design, that is, a labyrinth designed to get lost since it forces the visitor to choose between different paths, some without exit. Until now, the largest plant labyrinth in Spain was that of Villapresente, in Cantabria, with a network of cypresses of 5,625 m2. More info: laberintodepeniscola.com

FRÍAS And its great captain

The smallest city in Spain (and the world) celebrates the last weekend of June the Fiestas del Capitan, which recalls the insurrection of the residents of Frías to defend the privileges as a city of this jewel of the province of Burgos. That uprising occurred in 1446, hence they are one of the oldest festivals in Spain. This year the big day is Sunday, June 25, although the celebrations and animation will be on the street from Friday. Among cheers, cheers and traditional shouts in memory of the siege, there will be dancers, bagpipers, harnessed horses, dressed neighbors and public, a lot of public.
