Unknown thieves have stolen two hour hands from the tower clocks of a church at a height of around 40 meters in North Rhine-Westphalia. As the police in Kleve announced, the perpetrators apparently reached the tower clocks via scaffolding in front of the St. Peter and Paul Church in Kerken. They escaped undetected with their prey. In addition, a minute hand had been bent and damaged.

The church with its 63-metre-high steeple, which was built in 1890, is currently being restored, according to the police. The stolen hour hands are said to have been made of metal, the exact weight is not known. A predecessor of today's parish church was built as early as the 15th century.
