Yuji Sakamoto, who won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival in France for his screenplay for Hirokazu Kore-eda's film "Monster," held a press conference with director Kore-eda after returning from Japan on the 29th, and shared his thoughts on winning the award, saying, "I feel like I'm still in a dream."

The movie "Monster" is a story about an incident that emerges from a fight between elementary school students, and questions what the "monster" means by depicting it from various perspectives such as parents and teachers.

On the 28th, Japan time, Yuji Sakamoto, who wrote the screenplay for the film at the Cannes Film Festival in France, one of the world's three major film festivals, won the screenplay award, and on the 3th, the two of them attended a press conference together with director Kore-eda, who had returned from Japan.

First, Mr. Sakamoto was handed the trophy by Coach Kore-eda, who attended the award ceremony.

Commenting on the time he was informed of the award, he said, "I used to sleep, so to be honest, I didn't really feel it, and I still feel like I'm still in a dream. I think the weight of the award I was handed is a big responsibility that went on me."

Commenting on the winning script, he said, "I wrote the script with that person in mind, believing that there would be someone out there somewhere, who was going to be lonely, and who would accept the film."

When asked if he would like to work with Kore-eda in the future, he said, "I respect Kore-eda, who is also a screenwriter, so I don't think it's easy, but I couldn't be happier if they asked me to do it again."

On the other hand, director Kore-eda expressed his joy, saying, "When I am praised, I wonder if it is true, but I am really happy when the actors and staff are praised."

The film "Monster" will be released in cinemas nationwide from June 6.
