"The Illusion of Escape" (Superposition)

The Danish dramatic thriller directed by Caroline Lyngby at first may seem like an attempt by the director to criticize the modern consumer society: in the story, the main characters - a married couple with a child - move from the capital to a secluded house in a deep forest in order to find the perfect place to live and create.

The heroine of Maria Bach Hansen intends to finish her debut novel, and the character of the winner of the Berlin Film Festival Mikkel Boe Völsgaard takes pictures of their lives and publishes weekly materials in the format of a podcast. The idyll ends when the couple's son Nemo ceases to recognize his mother, and after a while the heroes meet their own doubles living on the other side of the lake. First, there is a conflict, followed by reconciliation and an attempt by the characters to understand the reasons for what is happening.

A cold picture with beautiful but gloomy landscapes, an escalation of the atmosphere, a non-trivial idea and only three actors - the formula for the success of "The Illusion of Escape", thanks to which the picture was enthusiastically received at the Rotterdam Film Festival.

"My Dog Rooney" (Meongmongi)

The plot of the South Korean comedy with elements of the drama "My Dog Rooney" is quite ordinary: the main character Min-su (Yoo Young-seok), who adores his dog named Rooney, is going to get married. But there's a catch: his lover is allergic to dogs. Min-su makes a difficult decision and, with the help of his cousin (Cha Tae-hyun), begins to look for a new family for his four-legged friend.

The search is not particularly successful: instead of attaching one dog, the main characters gradually acquire a whole pack of new pets, each of which needs a home.

Filled with humor, the picture "My Dog Rooney" promises to be a worthy novelty in the niche of family cinema about animals.

"Directly Kakha. Another film"

The impressive financial success of the film "Directly Kakha" in 2020 (the comedy fees exceeded 569 million rubles with a budget of 55 million) was the natural reason for the birth of a full-length continuation of the adventures of Kakha and Sergo performed by Artyom Karokozyan and Artyom Kalaydzhyan, even despite the predominantly low ratings of the first film from critics and viewers.

The plot of the new comedy by Viktor Shamirov again turns upside down the relationship between the main characters, who, once again getting into trouble, find themselves on opposite sides of the barricades. Kakha and Sergo will have to solve all their problems and test the strength of friendship.

"The Fugitive" (Kandahar)

Gerard Butler continues to fill the segment of Hollywood action movies a la the 1980s and 1990s, either paying tribute to the classic films with Stallone, Van Damme and Schwarzenegger, or aiming to get into the next "The Expendables" as a result. Following the relatively successful "Crash" of 2023, Butler's new work comes out as not only the lead actor, but also as a producer - "The Fugitive".

The plot of the film, directed by Rick Roman Waugh ("Criminal", "Shot in the Void"), revolves around a CIA agent who failed the mission, was revealed and forced to flee Iran. The only chance to survive is to get to the evacuation point in Kandahar, Afghanistan, but the hero is pursued by elite special forces and the best mercenaries.

Already from the trailer it is clear that the film has everything that fans of classic action movies with a good budget love and appreciate: spectacular chases, cool shootouts, spectacular explosions (it could not do without helicopters), an interesting main character.

"Being Salvador Dalíland" (Dalíland)

The biographical film "Being Salvador Dali" is dedicated to one of the most famous and outrageous artists of the XX century, whose images at different ages were embodied on the screen by two actors - Ben Kingsley ("Schindler's List", "Shutter Island", "Slevin's Lucky Number") and Ezra Miller ("Justice League", "The Flash").

In the center of the plot is the relationship between Dali and his wife and muse Gala. Their marriage is going through hard times, the real reins of managing all the affairs of the artist are held in the hands of his wife, and he himself, being in fear of death and experiencing a storm of emotions, throws incredible parties and does anything but creativity. At the same time, a large-scale exhibition is ahead, which should be saved by a new assistant to the genius - James (Christopher Breaney).

In the course of the story, many famous contemporaries, friends and people around Dali appear on the screen: Jeff Fenholt (the actor who first played the role of Jesus in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar), whose image on the screen was embodied by Zach Nachbar-Sekel, the famous shock rocker Alice Cooper (Mark McKenna) and others. Despite the fact that the picture received average ratings on Western aggregators, critics note the incredible costumes and excellent play of the acting ensemble.
