After more than a year of suspension, the second trial of the "Wu Xie Yu's mother-in-law case" will begin on May 5.

On May 5, The Paper contacted two "cellmates" who had been in the same cell as Wu Xieyu in Fuzhou No. 18 Detention Center. They are no longer in the detention center.

The two "cellmates" recalled their impressions of Wu Xieyu: Wu Xieyu seemed to be relatively stable overall and did not quarrel with others; He used to attend Peking University, he would help when he was consulted, and would encourage depressed fellow inmates; He bought a lot of books and pens and spent most of his time writing.

Li Meijin, an expert in criminal psychology and a professor at China's Public Security University, once pointed out that Wu Xieyu is a "refined egoist" and a high-IQ criminal, and his intelligence makes him more than enough to cope with reality and deal with various people.

In July 2015, while his 7-year-old mother Xie Tianqin was returning home to change her shoes, Wu Xieyu slammed Xie Tianqin's head and face with a dumbbell bar, causing Xie Tianqin's death, and placing 48 layers of coverings such as bed sheets and plastic film, as well as activated carbon packs and refrigerator deodorants on the body. Wu Xieyu was arrested after absconding for more than three years, and in August 75, the Fuzhou Intermediate People's Court sentenced him to death in the first instance. The court of first instance held that Wu Xieyu had been premeditated and planned for a long time in order to commit the crime of intentional homicide, and his subjective malignancy was extremely deep, and the criminal methods were cruel.

After the first-instance verdict was pronounced, Wu Xieyu appealed.

Former "cellmate": Wu Xieyu spends most of his time writing

On April 2019, 4, Wu Xieyu, who had been absconding for three years after allegedly killing his mother, was captured at Chongqing's Jiangbei Airport. After that, Wu Xieyu was taken to Fuzhou and detained in Fuzhou City No. 21 Detention Center. Seven months later, Wang Chun (pseudonym) entered Fuzhou City No. 7 Detention Center on suspicion of illegal mining, sharing the same cell as Wu Xieyu.

Wang Chun said that Wu Xieyu was relatively tall and wore glasses. There are more than 20 people in the cell, and everyone knows about Wu Xieyu and the case he is involved in, but they will not go out of their way to talk to him about the case. During his time in the detention center, Wu Xieyu seemed to be relatively stable in his overall mood, and he did not quarrel with other people, nor did he see him angry or angry.

"Everyone knows what his case is, but no one will talk to him about the case." Yang Peng (pseudonym), another former cellmate with Mr. Wu, said that inside, they generally do not discuss other people's cases. On the other hand, Wu Xieyu "doesn't like to talk to others more."

Yang Peng said that Wu Xieyu generally does not take the initiative to chat with others, but if everyone needs help, he will provide consultation and help, especially on legal issues. Some people have a low level of education and do not know how to write to their families, or if they encounter some words that they cannot write, they will come to him for advice. In addition, Wu Xieyu also teaches English to others.

Wang Chun said that in the detention center, Wu Xieyu taught him a lot of cultural knowledge and would explain it in detail. "For example, when Confucius said, 'Do not do unto others what you do not want to be done to you,' he would not only explain the meaning of this sentence, but also expand on many relevant allusions."

Wang Chun said that because he was fined a lot of money in the case, he was confused and confused about the future at first, but Wu Xieyu said a lot of encouraging words to him, such as "I was born to be useful, and I will come back after a thousand gold is scattered", "Xiongguan Mando is really like iron, and now I step forward from the beginning" and so on.

Wang Chun remembers that in the detention center, Wu Xieyu spent most of his time writing, "We usually bought some paper or postcards to write letters and send them home, and he bought a lot of books and pens, kept writing, and didn't know what he was writing." ”

Previously, The Paper learned from Wu Xieyu's relatives and friends that Wu Xieyu wrote at least three handwritten letters from the detention center to his uncle, aunt and fraud victims in the case. Each letter exceeded 2021,10 words, with the maximum reaching 3,<> words, and the total number of words was close to <>,<> words.

In the letter, he recounted his learning and growth experience, his father's death and other events, as well as the process and thoughts of committing a crime to kill his mother, defrauding relatives and friends, and returning to justice. In the letter, he spends a large part expressing repentance, hoping for forgiveness and "a chance to live to atone for his sins."

In a letter to his uncle, Wu Xieyu said that because he was sentenced to death in the first instance and executed immediately, he was required to wear handcuffs and anklets in the detention center, which affected his writing speed. In the detention center, he reflected most painfully every day, writing down nearly 400,<> pages of drafts one after another, which was his most thorough reflection in his life, and finally compiled three copies of "Self-Description Materials" with nearly <> pages.

After 15 months in Fuzhou No. <> Detention Center, Wang Chun was sent to prison. He said that before leaving, Wu Xieyu sang a song of Zhang Zhenyue's "Goodbye" and gave it to him.

In March this year, Wang Chun was released after completing his sentence. When he was in prison, Wang Chun also received a letter from Wu Xieyu, in which he asked about his current work and life, "just to express concern, there is nothing else." After being released from prison, Wang Chun also wrote a letter to Wu Xieyu, but has not yet received a reply.
