A professional like her recognizes a good script at first glance. That's the message that Scarlett Johansson, 38, conveys very convincingly. Elegantly and self-confidently, she advertises the latest Wes Anderson film, in which she plays a leading role and which celebrates its premiere in Cannes: »Asteroid City«. After reading the book, she spoke for hours with the director and screenwriter, she said in an interview with Variety. Anderson had conceived the role of Midge Campbell, a fictional superstar of fifties cinema, with Johansson in mind. The actress wanted to know everything about this character: "I was curious," she told the magazine. The fact that she was convinced of the project can be deduced from another, not entirely insignificant detail: The woman with the highest salaries in Hollywood worked for a fraction of what she otherwise earns. "Variety" reports that Johansson was paid $4131 a week for the job for two months. For mere mortals, that's a lot of money. For a Scarlett Johansson rather peanuts: For her superheroines in Disney's Marvel blockbusters, she is said to have been paid tens of millions.
