Known for his social fiber and fascinating cinematic style, he is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time. Winner of the Palme d'Or in 2018 for A Family Affair, in 2023 Hirokazu Kore-eda is again in competition at the Cannes Film Festival with Monster. He was born in 1962 in Tokyo to a film buff mother and a father haunted by his experiences in the Japanese army during World War II and his imprisonment in a labor camp in Siberia. Revealed internationally in 2004 with Nobody Knows, Kore-eda has signed masterpieces such as Like father, like son, released in 2013.
