The film is one of the most successful crime comedies of all time. The original from 1963 starred David Niven and Peter Sellers. It has been known for some time that Hollywood is working on a new edition of »Pink Panther«.

The remake is to be staged as a mixture of live action and computer-animated animation passages. Director Jeff Fowler had previously shot »Sonic The Hedgehog« around the computer game character of the same name, where he also brought together live-action elements and trick elements.

Now the signs are thickening as to who will take on a leading role: As the industry magazine »Hollywood Reporter« reports, citing production circles, the role of Inspector Clouseau, which was originally played by Sellers, is to go to Eddie Murphy. Accordingly, the story is aimed for the tone of a buddy cop movie.

Murphy was active in this genre in the eighties and nineties with the cinema franchise »Beverly Hills Cop«. This year, the comedian was honored at the Golden Globes for his life's work.
