The boss of the magazine "Legend" decided to attack another magazine for parasitism. Eric Fottorino first sounded the alarm on Twitter by sharing a photo of his magazine next to that of the magazine "Eternel", which looks like two drops of water to "Legend".

It is the boss of Legend, Eric Fottorino, who sounded the alert on Twitter. In a widely relayed message, he published a photo of a Parisian kiosk where two magazines are arranged side by side. "On the left, our issue of Legend dedicated to Simone Veil. On the right, a parasitic title that violates all our codes and plays on confusion for unacceptable unfair competition."

New plagiarism of @legende_lemag in a kiosk of Ecole militaire in Paris. On the left our Legend Simone Veil. On the right is a parasitic title that steals all our codes and plays on confusion for unacceptable unfair competition. Look for the error. Impunity? Intellectual rights? pic.twitter.com/WxS3sanQsB

The magazine in question is called Eternal. On the cover: Romy Schneider. And these "codes" evoked by Eric Fottorino, it is in particular the logo, very similar, but also the choice of a black and white photo which again plays on the same register. This is what he explains at the microphone of Europe 1 in Media Culture.

"You can publish anything in pure imitation"

"What we intend to do in the face of this unfair practice is of course to denounce it, but also to take legal action so that commercial parasitism, confusion, deception are established and discussed. What bothers me a lot, what scandalizes me, is not only that practices like this can succeed, that is to say that we can publish anything in pure imitation and that the system is complicit by passivity. That is to say that printers, then after newspaper distributors to kiosquiers, can distribute as if we were distributing counterfeit money," says Eric Fottorino.
