According to new statistics from the Swedish Agency for Cultural Analysis, most museums more than doubled their visitor numbers in 2022, although there is some way to go to pre-pandemic levels.

"It is clear that there has been a recovery. Last year, there was more variation in how the central museums fared. Some recovered, but some continued to go backwards. This year it is going up for everyone", says statistician Erik Vestin in a press release.

The statistics "Visitor development for the central museums 2022" presents new visitor figures for the central museums, the Living History Forum and the destinations for which the Swedish National Heritage Board is responsible. In total, data on 32 of Sweden's largest museums are presented.
