Two Atlantic landscapes, one European and one African. A desert red as fire and a green, very green country. A Mediterranean island with an underwater treasure... We travel a world and a half in search of great adventures.

Normandy in spring

Monet, Dufy, Pissarro, Gauguin and the scenarios of his paintings. The cliffs of Étretat, the cathedral of Rouen, the beaches of the Landing, the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the homeland of Camembert and cider. The region of Normandy is in the prayers of every traveler, even more so in spring when the light floods every inch of the French region. For bicycle lovers, the options are irresistible: the two wheels are one of the most comfortable ways to explore the mythical Mont Saint-Michel, for example, which reaches up to three different cycle paths. To explore the region, an attractive option is to do it from a cabin. Le Paquebot, a few kilometers from the charming Honfleur, is a small hotel on the seafront that emulates the ocean liners that linked Le Havre with New York a hundred years ago. Atacama: crossing in the desert

That said, this crossing in the desert does not sound entirely attractive, but it is actually a fascinating proposal from the Chilean company Explora, a specialist in remote travel. It consists of a cross-border adventure between the terracotta mountains of the Chilean Atacama, the driest desert on the planet, and the gigantic Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia, exploring in 4x4 and with an expert guide all the incredible countries in between. This moving trip, sleeping in Explora lodges, can last seven or eleven days. More information at www.explora.com

Slovenia, green heart

With access to the Adriatic Sea and the majestic mountains of the Julian Alps, in this small country beats the green heart of Europe. It is a mystery that Slovenia remains unknown, especially among nature lovers. From the rugged landscapes of Triglav National Park to idyllic Lake Bled, with its characteristic natural island suspended in the middle of the water, to geological wonders such as Postojna Cave, the second largest underground cave system in the world, Slovenia offers the traveler one adventure after another. A very comfortable way to explore it is through the tour operator Soltour, and the trips it has organized this spring. More information at www.slovenia.info

South Africa, the African Atlantic

Attached to Cape Town but remote and wild at the same time. Long Beach draws eight long kilometers of white sand. There are no amenities, only nature and a famous wreck of 1900 half-buried, the Kakapo. Whale watching, surfing, eternal walks... The possibilities are many in this Atlantic paradise, one of the stops on the South Africa itinerary proposed by Last Word, a hotel group led by women with boutique accommodations that never reach more than ten rooms. In addition to Long Beach, its proposal includes an immersion in the vineyards of Franschhoek and a getaway to the king of national parks, the Kruger, where the Last Word Kitara is hidden. The lodge (only six suites) is surely one of the most intimate ways to experience this African treasure. More information at www.thelastword.co.za

Formentera, paradise nearby

If there is a destination to enjoy in slow motion, it is this beautiful Balearic island. Its possibilities are endless throughout the year, although it may be thought that it is only open in summer. Nothing could be further from the truth. Spring is one of the best times to enjoy Formentera, since the temperature is ideal and you can squeeze all its faces, which are many. Nature, gastronomy, relaxation, culture, sport, ecology, sea... Including astronomical tourism, as the island boasts one of the least polluted skies in Europe.

This is an ideal time to walk the route of the lighthouses, bike rides or visit cultural spaces such as the Antoni Tur Gabrielet center, where workshops related to local crafts are held. Some markets also open all year round, such as the second-hand market or the fruit and vegetable farmhouse, both in Sant Francesc. Without forgetting that the clarity of the waters of the island, thanks to the meadows of oceanic posidonia, make Formentera the perfect place for lovers of scuba diving and underwater photography.
