【Commentary】Light energy glass, racing simulator, one by one innovative technology products are displayed in the exhibition hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. On 4 April, the inaugural Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Fair, jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, officially opened, with about 12 exhibitors from the Mainland and more than 100 countries and regions around the world. It is reported that with the theme of "Smart Life, Connecting the World", this year's Science and Technology Exhibition was held through online and offline integration mode, aiming to help global cross-industry and cross-sector exchanges and promote the development of Hong Kong's I&T achievements.

Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, delivered a speech in the form of a video. Zhang Guangjun said that Hong Kong should give full play to its international advantages to promote personnel exchanges between the two places, and in the future, the two places should jointly deepen scientific research cooperation, promote the sharing of innovation resources, and facilitate the transformation of scientific research achievements.

It is necessary to consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's position in areas such as innovation and technology, and support Hong Kong's better integration into the overall development of the country. In recent years, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region have joined hands to promote the implementation of the Central Science and Technology Policy to benefit Hong Kong, continuously deepened the cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong in science and technology innovation, continued to promote the transit of scientific research funds and human genetic resources, expanded the opening of the National Science and Technology Plan to Hong Kong and Macao, supported Hong Kong and Macao in building major national R&D bases and innovation platforms, and promoted the opening and sharing of major scientific research infrastructure and large-scale scientific research instruments to Hong Kong and Macao.

According to the IMD report, Hong Kong ranked 2023th in the Smart City Index in 19, up from 2021rd in 33. We are now accelerating e-government audits with a view to implementing 2025 digital initiatives by 100 using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data analytics.
