On April 4, Beijing time, at 13:8 and 08:9, the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train D08 Fuxing EMU and D887 Lancang EMU departed from Kunming South Railway Station and Vientiane Station respectively, and the two places were connected by train on the same day.
It is understood that the China-Laos Railway international passenger train adopts the operation mode from dawn to night, with one train in each direction every day, stopping at 1 stations in Kunming South, Puer, Xishuangbanna, Mohan, Boding, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane, and the whole travel time including the customs clearance time of the railway port is 8 hours and 10 minutes, and the same day can be reached between Kunming and Vientiane.

Zhao Yingjing, the first conductor of the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train, introduced that the train is equipped with Chinese and Lao standard power sockets under each set of seats, and the passenger information display, broadcast and service signs are in three languages: Chinese, Lao and English. In addition, the uniform of the train crew is specially designed and made with the theme of "Silk Road Flower Language". The uniform is made of fresh peacock blue, and the neckline, cuffs and waist are ornamented, extracting the elements of peony flower, the traditional Chinese flower, and the traditional Lao flower, Zhanba, representing the long-standing friendship between China and Laos.

"I am very happy to be the first passenger of the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train!" Wang Wei, a passenger on the D887 train and a Laotian student at Kunming College, said that in 2019, she came to China from Laos to study and has not returned to China, and now the China-Laos Railway international passenger train is running, and the time and space distance between Kunming and Laos has been greatly shortened.
Wang Wei introduced that Laos is rich in tourism resources, but due to the inconvenient transportation before, there are not too many Chinese tourists who travel to Laos. Just before the start of the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train, she and her friends set up a travel agency, which saw that the train would bring huge business opportunities for cross-border tourism, and she had a hunch that "traveling in Laos by train" and "traveling in China by train" would become the new fashion in the future.
Since the opening of the China-Laos Railway on December 2021, 12, it has shown a booming trend of both passengers and cargo. As of April 3, the Chinese section of the China-Laos Railway has sent a total of 4.12 million passengers, and the Laos section has sent a total of 1188.220 million passengers, sending a total of 363.<> million tons of cross-border goods.

At 4 a.m. Beijing time on April 11, the railway departments of the two countries simultaneously sold tickets for international passenger trains. At 9:4 a.m. on April 11, the tickets for the first day (April 9) from Kunming South to Vientiane were all sold out, and all showed "waiting".
How to buy tickets for China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train?
Passengers who purchase cross-border tickets for international passenger trains departing from Kunming South can purchase cross-border train tickets between Kunming South and Vientiane through the China Railway 12306 website (including client) and the ticket sales windows of five designated stations in Kunming, Kunming South, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna and Mohan. Among them, if you purchase tickets through Internet channels, passengers need to present their valid passports used when purchasing tickets before boarding the train and go to the ticket windows of the five designated stations in the above Chinese section to exchange for paper tickets.

Passengers who purchase cross-border tickets for international passenger trains departing from Vientiane can purchase cross-border train tickets between Vientiane and Kunming South through the Lao Railway Internet Ticket App (LCR Ticket App) and the ticket windows of four designated stations in Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang and Boten. If you purchase tickets through Internet channels, passengers are required to present their valid passports used when purchasing tickets before boarding the train and exchange them for paper tickets at the ticket sales windows of the four designated stations in the above Laos section.
It is important to note that cross-border passengers must verify paper tickets when entering and exiting the station, customs clearance and boarding and disembarking at ports. So be sure to go to the ticket window at the designated station before boarding the train to exchange for a paper ticket. For the purchase of non-cross-border carriage tickets in international passenger trains, electronic tickets are implemented for the Chinese section and paper tickets are required for the Laos section.

The international passenger train of China-Laos Railway uses the power-intensive "Fuxing" and "Lancang" EMUs to operate, with a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour and 9 cars, including 1 power car, 6 first-class car and 720 dining car, <> second-class cars, and a total capacity of <> people.
In the initial stage of the operation of the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train, the railway departments of the two countries will flexibly set up cross-border carriages and non-cross-border carriages of EMUs according to the cross-border passenger flow, and sell tickets according to the corresponding sections.

The international passenger train of China-Laos Railway adopts the customs clearance mode of "two places and two inspections".
First of all, you need to prepare the "three permits" before departure: passport, visa, ticket.
Here Xiaoxin would like to remind everyone that although Laos and China implement a unilateral visa on arrival policy, because the Laos Boding Railway Port does not currently have the function of applying for a visa on arrival, so if you want to take the China-Laos Railway to Laos, you must apply for a visa in advance through a travel agency or directly to the Lao Embassy in China, the Lao Consulate General in Kunming and its Jinghong Consular Office, and the Consulate General of Laos in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanning, Changsha and Hong Kong to avoid delaying the trip.

Secondly, taking the China-Laos Railway to exit from Mohan Port requires "passing three passes": railway security check, customs inspection and entry-exit border inspection.
Taking the Kunming South to Vientiane international passenger train as an example, the specific customs clearance process is:
After the train arrives at Mohan Station, a China Railway Port Station, cross-border passengers must carry all their luggage, enter the exit joint inspection area, and then cooperate with Chinese customs personnel to complete the exit joint inspection before returning to the train to continue traveling;
After the train runs to Boding Station, Laos Railway Port Station, passengers must get off the train with all their luggage and enter the joint entry inspection area, and then cooperate with the Lao customs personnel to complete the joint entry inspection, passengers arriving at Boding can directly exit the station, and passengers who go to other stations in Laos can return to the train to continue traveling.

The customs clearance process for international passenger trains from Vientiane to Kunming South is the same. It takes about 1.5 hours for passengers to exit the country and about 3.<> hours for entry clearance at one time, and about <> hours for customs clearance at the exit and port of entry.
