【Commentary】The Grand Canal Source Site Park, located in Changping District, Beijing, will open on April 4. On April 8, the reporter entered the park in advance.

【Commentary】At the Nine Dragon Pond, the site of Baifu Spring in the park, nine exquisite dragon heads are carved, and trickling spring water flows out of the dragon's mouth, reproducing the beauty of "Longquan gargling jade" in the Ming and Qing dynasties. According to experts, Baifu Spring can be traced back to the northernmost starting point of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the Yuan Dynasty.

Through some of his field interviews (visits), Guo Shoujing, a scientist of the Yuan Dynasty, found the source of Baifu Spring, turned this water along the Changping terrain to the west and south, and also incorporated the springs along the way, and then introduced this water into the pond, forming such a water source of the Tonghui River, so that the Tonghui River could transport grain by boat. Therefore, Changping Baifu Spring is used as the northernmost source of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the Yuan Dynasty.

【Explanation】As an important node of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, the Grand Canal Source Site Park takes the historical and cultural heritage of Baifuquan as the keynote, connects the landscape nodes such as "Long Flow Huize", "Longquan Shuyu" and "Landscape and Water Qingyin", and integrates with Changping New City Riverside Forest Park to form a beautiful scenery reflecting mountains and rivers.
