The China News Network's "Qingting, Cross-Strait" column invited three young Taiwanese to talk about their stories of searching for roots in the mainland.

This root-finding, in fact, I think is what every Chinese of us thinks. Many young friends on the island, like my classmates, have a word on their names, which is called the generational character, and some young classmates will ask me, I have this generational character, then I think it should have a certain relationship with the mainland.

At that time, when I was studying in Taiwan, we had a family temple called Jun Lian Tang in the village, and there was such a gathering in the village every month, so every year in fact, when we gathered at the meeting, we would actually have (ideas) to say, our Lin family temple, or Jun Lian Hall, what is the origin of this thing? So at that time, this seed was actually in my heart, and my heart had slowly sprouted.

In July 2021, it happened that Guanting and I participated in the internship program of Peking University Career Center, then we were an intern in Pingtan, Fujian, and there happened to be a weekend, and that weekend happened that the practice group did not arrange tasks, I had participated in the activities of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots before, then I asked them, I said that I had a half-paper family tree here, and then I also gave them some information about my grandfather before his death, information in the mainland, grandpa lived in Lin Run's former residence when he was a child, and they quickly helped us find our relatives, and then we took the bus to Putian.

After coming to Pingtan to start a business, our grandparents of the older generation in Taiwan told us that (the hometown in the mainland) was called Longfengtou, but in fact, we couldn't find it when we used Longfengtou to check on the Internet, and then when we came to that place, I learned that Longfengtou was originally the two natural villages of Meifeng Village and Longtou Village, and now they have been merged into an administrative village, all of which are some of the descendants of our Lin family living in that place.

The distance between the two sides of the strait is said to be very close, like these things to worship the ancestors, in fact, in Taiwan will also eat the same thing, all the sacrificed chickens, fish and ducks, its cooking method is also good, the cooking method is also good, including its dessert, in the process of worship is also used the same thing.

I feel very, very happy, that is, at the moment I step into the ancestral hall, I really know where my roots are, where I came from, and reunion is imprinted in our Chinese genes, a kind of expectation in our hearts.

As a "comer" developing in the mainland, do you have anything you want to share with Taiwanese youth?

We often see that Taiwanese young friends have not yet come to the mainland, whether in southern Fujian or in the north and north, in fact, you will find that each local culture is different, which is difficult to understand through a one-time itinerary. So our idea is to say, if there is an opportunity to encourage young people in Taiwan to walk around more than one place, the motherland has most of the great rivers and mountains, in fact, you can pursue it in many ways and communicate in many aspects, I believe that in which place you will find the dream path in your mind.

I think as long as we have the opportunity, we must seize this opportunity, come to the mainland to walk and see more, and then chat with the local people more, you will understand what the real mainland is. By coming to the mainland, we will stimulate the most natural sense of identity and belonging in our own hearts, because after all, our bodies flow with the blood of Chinese.
