At the microphones of France 24 and RFI, the head of the Gabonese government Alain-Claude Bilie-By-Nze spoke about the next presidential election scheduled for August, during which the Gabonese authorities refused the presence of observers from the European Union.

"We have noted that EU observers have contributed to worsening the situation in Gabon during the last elections," justified the head of the Gabonese government.

The elections, which were held in August 2016, were marred by controversy and violence that led to several deaths.
