The Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission organized municipal and district health supervision teams overnight to jointly carry out inspections of relevant confinement centers in conjunction with public security, market supervision, neighborhoods and other departments under its jurisdiction.
After preliminary investigation, the Jianglan March Confinement Center in Liwan District involved in the report is suspected of using medical equipment to provide diagnosis and treatment services for pregnant women without obtaining the "Medical Institution Practice License", and has been placed on file for investigation in accordance with the law; The question of whether the agency provides surrogacy services is being further investigated in conjunction with the relevant authorities. For the remaining two confinement centres reported in the report, on-site inspections did not reveal illegal medical activities.
In the near future, the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission will carry out special health supervision and inspection work for confinement service institutions in the city, urge relevant units to implement rectification of problems, continue to follow up the rectification situation, and resolutely investigate and deal with confinement service institutions that violate medical and health laws and regulations.
