The focus of this year's spring labor offensive is whether the movement to raise wages will spread not only to large companies but also to small and medium-sized enterprises, but some labor unions such as machine and metal small and medium-sized enterprises have responded on the 15th. In some cases, the management side has already given a high level of response, including the full amount.

In this year's spring labor offensive, the 15th is the intensive response day, and many companies are in the final stages of negotiations between management and unions.

At JAM, a labor union of small and medium-sized companies in the machinery and metal industries, employees gather at the office to compile reports from each union and hear about the details of negotiations.

Some affiliated unions have set a response date even before the intensive response date, and so far, a higher level of response than usual has been shown, including the full amount.

On the 14th, we received a report that unions of several companies, including manufacturers with about 30 employees, responded as requested with a wage increase of 9,000 yen equivalent to the base increase.

JAM Chairman Katahiro Yasukochi said, "The management side has given us solid answers amid rising prices, and I think this is the result of tenacious negotiations with the union. Right now, responses from major corporations stand out, but in the future we will focus more on small and medium-sized companies. I would like to expect it," he said.

Goto, Minister of Economic Revitalization, “Expects ripple effects of wage increases on rural areas and small and medium-sized enterprises”

At the press conference after the cabinet meeting on the 14th, Goto, Minister of State for Economic Revitalization, said that the spring labor offensive will be held on the 15th, and that there is a movement to raise wages, mainly among large companies. On top of that, he expressed his hopes for the ripple effect on regional areas and small and medium-sized enterprises.

In this, Minister Goto said, ``We recognize that it is necessary to establish an appropriate price pass-through, including securing the funds for wage increases throughout the supply chain, and to raise wages that do not lose to price increases in order to realize a virtuous cycle of the economy. It is important to share this with society. I would like to positively evaluate the fact that there is already a strong movement centered on large companies."

On top of that, Minister Goto said, "In the future, small and medium-sized enterprises and local spring labor offensives will be in full swing, so it is important to spread this to these companies.I would like to ask for the maximum wage increase in this spring's wage negotiations. The government will also mobilize all its policies and work to create an environment for wage increases."
