[Explanation] 45-year-old Song Yan is an employee of the Bridge Branch of China Railway Shanqiao Group Co., Ltd., and has been engaged in cutting steel structure accessories for 27 years.

Recently, when the reporter saw her, she was operating a plasma cutting machine for cutting operations.

In Song Yan's hands, the steel plate was like a piece of lightweight cloth, which was "cut" into accessories of various shapes in a short while.

According to Song Yan, plasma cutting is an important process in the manufacture of bridges, and the cutting time for a 10-30-meter-long steel plate sometimes takes up to 6 hours.

  When I was in school, I studied electric welding. After entering the factory (1996), I was assigned to the flame cutting group. From the very beginning, I used a flame CNC cutting machine, but its precision should be much worse than it is now. At that time, if the cutting machine was running, it mainly relied on manpower to push and pull, which was more laborious. The current plasma cutting is basically a large program, and one person can operate it, and then the precision is improved. Another operating program simulate.

  [Explanation] According to Song Yan, during the operation of the plasma cutting machine, the flame temperature can reach as high as 2000 degrees Celsius, and there is a risk of burns if you are not careful.

  During the cutting process, it will produce some dust, strong light, and some arc radiation, so we have to wear goggles, earplugs and dust masks during the work process.

In summer, the temperature of the plate can reach about sixty to seventy (Celsius) degrees after cutting, seventy to eighty (Celsius) degrees is very hot, and the temperature of its cutting arc should be around two thousand (Celsius) degrees.

  [Explanation] When she first joined the work, under the guidance of her master, Song Yan often used some waste materials to practice cutting techniques.

With the long-term running-in and research, her technology has been continuously improved, and the qualified rate of the steel structure parts cut by her is as high as 99%.

  (Plasma cutting machine) We have a (usable) lifespan for replacing the nozzle, and the nozzle electrode needs to be replaced after a certain period of cutting time. Before that, I needed to calculate the cutting time and the number of meters cut, so I will not calculate it now. Just listening to the sound, I feel that it is almost time to replace it, and it can be replaced. This is some long-term experience accumulation.

  [Explanation] Song Yan introduced that the steel structure parts she cut have participated in the manufacture of more than 40 well-known bridges at home and abroad, such as the Beipanjiang Bridge, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the Padma Bridge in Bangladesh.

Due to her outstanding performance, she has successively won honorary titles such as Hebei May 1st Heroine Model and Hebei March 8th Red Banner Bearer.
