The national “Basic Plan for Persons with Disabilities” has been decided.

Inheriting the legacy of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, public transportation will be made barrier-free, and from April next year, companies will be obliged to consider people with disabilities to the extent that they do not become an excessive burden, so we will promote understanding. I'm here.

The new "Basic Plan for Persons with Disabilities" approved by the Cabinet for the next five years states that public transportation and facilities used by many people will be made barrier-free as a successor to the legacy of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

In addition, as the spread of COVID-19 has had a major impact on vulnerable people, efforts are being made to make it easier for people with disabilities to obtain information on disasters, etc. We are planning to improve support so that people can easily communicate with each other.

Specifically, in order to eliminate steps in public elementary and junior high schools, etc., we will install ramps in all schools by 2025, and establish a support center where people with disabilities can consult about information and communication equipment in all schools by 2024. The goal is to have it installed in each prefecture.

Furthermore, in anticipation of the enforcement of the revised Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, which obliges private business operators to provide "reasonable accommodation" within a range that is not too burdensome, efforts are being made to promote understanding. is going to proceed.
