In order to make it easier to manage bridges called ``unnamed bridges'' that have no names but numbers, and to encourage interest and affection for bridges, an initiative was carried out in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, in which children gave names to bridges. The name of the bridge that became No. 1 was announced.

This initiative is being carried out by Uda City, and on the 9th, children from Haibara Higashi Elementary School gathered in front of the bridge over the Temma River that runs through the Haibara district and said, "Shinsho Kōhaihigashi Bridge. A plate with the name of the bridge written on it was unveiled.

This bridge has been managed only with the number "272" so far, and this time it was given a name by the children.

It is said that it is filled with the desire to "smile like a god and spend a bright day."

Of the 528 bridges managed by Uda City, 146 do not have names, making it difficult to manage because it is difficult to know where they are or what kind of bridge they are. , there is an aim to lead to smooth management.

We also hope that through these efforts, people will develop an interest in and attachment to bridges.

One of the children said, "It was a good experience to be able to name the bridge we walk on every day."

Chikahiro Kikuoka, manager of the Uda City Construction Division, said, "There are many unnamed bridges in the city, so we would like to proceed with maintenance while considering naming them."
